“You’re late.”

 

Sun’s back hits the wall, her hips jutting forward, the work she put into her hair this morning all for naught.

 

Kate breathes hot against her neck, as Sun asks, “How’s the party.”

 

“Fine. Mellow. Haven’t seen Hurley in awhile.” Her fingers move along the outline of Sun’s dress. “Jack didn’t show.”

 

“You didn’t expect him to.” Sun’s hand grabs hers, stops its motion. “We should not be doing this here.”

 

Kate sighs against her lips. “Inside. I know my way around.” She pulls Sun along, into the house, suddenly glad for bathroom doors with locks on them.

Author's Note: Just something that popped into my head. No reason really, other than I rewatched the episode.

“So I know I screwed up.”

 

Addison raises an eyebrow at the blonde standing in the doorway of her hotel room. “What are you doing here Grey?”

 

“What you said, at the bar, I know. I know I made a mistake.” She’s getting the feeling Meredith really isn’t driving toward a point, she’s just…talking. Or thinking. Out loud. “I have no idea how to fix it.”

 

She tries not to laugh, bitterly at that. “And you think I have all the answers? You come to the woman who lost the same man. To you. Seriously?”

 

“No one else understands. No one else understands that it’s not just me, that he isn’t perfect. I thought you might.”

 

It’s funny, because she’s starting to feel like she’s staring at her own reflection instead of Meredith Grey, and she never saw that coming.

 

She sighs, a decision, probably a bad one. “Come in.”

Poor Mer. And also kinda poor Addison. 'Cause really I agree. The similarities between the whole Meredith/Addison situation have been so closely paralleled by Rose/Meredith. I really wanted to see Mer walk out the door of the bar after Addison.

Thank you! I wrote it for a drabble comm, so I had to keep it short but sweet but I think that kind of helps make it flow.

I never really knew I missed Addison until she was back. She did add something that we are indeed missing.

I'm biased, so I never really liked or felt sorry for Meredith. After Derek hooked up with Rose, I refused to see the similarities between Addie and Mer. But yeah, they're both screwed up in their different ways and Derek is the unlikely connection. :)

As for Sun/Kate - interesting.

I don't know, I see a lot of similarity with them...Rose non-inclusive, and I like playing at that aspect. And yeah, no matter how you look at it, Derek is the connection.

As for the Sun/Kate, it's my femslash canon, so hence this.

I thought there should have been more Addison/Meredith interaction after the bar scene in 4.13, so thank you for giving that to me! Derek got off too lightly in that episode, so I like the thought that Meredith and Addison at least get to bitch about him together. ;-)

That said, without really knowing any sort of context, I still sort of love this, because even without s4 knowledge, I still feel like this fits them well? I think this was...it's less about Season 4 really. If you've seen the end of Season 3 you know they broke up. So even without what happens in Season 4 you can kind of go from there.

I loved them both!
I find it interesting how Addison can relate. She's definitely been in that position before, except now she can try help Meredith so she doesn't lose Derek to Rose.

Addison has been here and done that and the whole thing is we learn from our mistakes and she's kind of...imparting that knowledge on Meredith. She knows what she missed out on and she's trying to ensure Meredith doesn't because I think she knows now that Meredith is the right person for Derek.
